*Ulaanbaatar city: The national capital and largest city, transport and industrial center of the country, the city dominated by Soviet style high rise apartment blocks, retaining a relaxed, small town athmosphere and a very pleasant place to visit and to base. Surrounded by Bogd, Chingeltei and Songinohairhan mountains and river Tuul. Built in 1778 at the present location, called as a felt city because of the felt hats and gers. In 1924, the city was finally named Ulaanbaatar (Red hero)and declared the official capital of Mongolia. The city consists of six major districts. The population is about 650.000.

*Gandan monastery: Gandan monastery. Founded in 1809 under the name Yellow temple in the western part of present Ulaanbaatar, gradually expanding by constructing other temples such as temples dedicated to 5th, 7th and 8th Bogdo Jibzundamba holy kings. Temples are constructed under Mongolian, Mongolian-Chinese and Chinese-Tibetian design and in accordance with Buddhist religion tradition and custom. The monastery has a rich library housing such invaluable Buddhist books as 108 volumes “Ganjuur” and its commentary of 225 volumes Danjuur, and other Buddhist literatures written with 9 jewels by about 70 Buddhist scholars. Taken into state protection in 1994.

*Dugana khad resort (Ar Mongol Travel group): Dugana khad tourist resort, located in 108kms north from Ulaanbaatar, alone in a picturesque mountain valley without other tourist camps. *Gobi: Gobi one of the most interesting and mysterious place in the world. The site of an ancient inland sea, the Gobi is a treasure chest of fossilized dinosaur bones and eggs. Gobi is a home to argali (wild sheep) tekh (ibex), irvis (snow leopard), khulan (wild ass), white tailed gazelles, wild camels and Gobi bear. The Yoliin am (Vulture valley), nestled between the beautiful peaks of the Gurvansaihan /three beauties/ mountains, towering 1000 feet above the surrounding steppe , shelters glaciers which remain frozen even on the summer’s hottest day.(see location)

*Eagle valley: Called Yoliin am in Mongolian, Eagle valley is famous for its dramatic and very unusual scenery-it is a valley, stuck in the middle of the Gobi Desert, with 2-3meters thick ice almost all year around. The small museum at the gate on the main road to Eagle valley has a collection of dinosaur eggs, bones and stuffed birds and snow leopard. 13kms from the museum by car and 25minutes walk, following the stream, leads to the a gorge full of ice.(see location)

*Bayanzag: Bayanzag, which means “rich in saxauls”. Bayanzag is known as the“flaming cliffs”. Fossilized dinosaur bones and eggs 1stexcavated in 1922 in Bayanzag. It’s a classic desert of rock, red sands, scrub, sun and awesome emptiness.

*Manzushir: Manzshir overlooks a beautiful valley of streams and pine, birch and cedar trees, dotted with granite boulders. The monastery and most of the are between it, is part of the Bogdkhaan Mountain Strictly Protected Area, where wildlife including wolves and foxes, is abundant and species of hare and deer are protected from hunting.(see location)

*Khuvsgul Lake: Khuvsgul lake and Siberian taiga in Khuvsgul have become one of the most popular tourist sites in the country. Lake Khuvsgul is 136 km long, 36 km wide, 262 m deep, and is located at an altitude of 1645 m above sea level. It is the second largest fresh water lake in Central Asia. It is inhabited by nine species offish including the Siberian grayling and lenok. Fishing and sport fishing are becoming popular in the lake area. Taiga fauna and flora, taiga forest dwellers, Tsaatan, practicing rain-deer breeding are the main attractions for tourists.(see location)

*Khorgo: Khorgo Volcano is a dead volcano covered with basalt lying in the east of the Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan (National Park) in Arhangai aimag. Interesting bubbles of solidified lave named “Basalt ger'. Possible a visit to yak's herders. Arhangai aimag, the northest slope of the Hangai chain, is called “the Switzerland of Mongolia” for its forests, rivers and wooded hills.(see location)

*Terelj National Park: Located not far from Ulaanbaatar, Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is the most visited natural tourist sight. *Khongoryn Els sand dunes: The 800-meter high sand dunes in Sevrei soum, South Gobi aimag, are called Khongoryn Els. These dunes are 20 km wide and 100 km long.The Khongoryn River flows along the sand dunes and gives birth to oases. *Mongol sand: 330-km long sand dunes occupying 2724 square meters are the largest sand dunes in Mongolia. They are on the border of Gobi Altai and Zavkhan aimags. This natural compound located between the Altai and Khangai Mountain ranges in the Depression of the Great Lakes has rich fauna and flora. Dorgon Lake in the north-west of the dunes and Ereen Lake in the center of the dunes create an ideal habitat for hundreds of birds. *Baga Gazryn Chuluu: The 1751-meter high granite mountain in the territory of Adaatsag soum, Dundgobi aimag, is another place with unique scenery that many tourists compare with lunar scenes. *Khogno Khaan mountain: Just in the border area of Bulgan, Ovorkhangai and Tuv aimags is the Khogno Khaan Mountain. *Dornodyn steppe: Domodyn steppe, which occupies a vast area in the territories of Domed and Sukhbaatar aimags, is one of the last undisturbed plain ecosystems, in the world. The vast Mongolian steppes of Dornod are the habitat for a million gazelles and few other mammals. The area is home to many species of birds.
